VAT will be added to fees once the practice is VAT-registered (from launch). Some services fall outside the standard packages (e.g. catch-up bookkeeping, one-off advisory). These are always quoted in advance — no surprises. Response SLAs refer to acknowledgement of your query, not necessarily a full resolution.

Pension contribution tax modelling (Premium) covers the tax effect of contributions only. We do not give regulated pension or investment advice — product and provider decisions should be made with an FCA-authorised adviser.

Pricing FAQ

Common pricing questions

RTI stands for Real Time Information — the HMRC-mandated system for reporting payroll each time you pay yourself, keeping your NI record and tax code up to date. We register your company for PAYE, run monthly payroll, and submit RTI to HMRC each time. For 2026/27, the employer's National Insurance secondary threshold is £5,000 — any salary above this incurs employer's NIC at 15%. (Most one-person companies can't claim the Employment Allowance, which is why this employer NIC arises at all — it's reserved for companies with more than one employee paid above the secondary threshold.) Despite this, a salary around £12,570 (the personal allowance) remains optimal for most one-director companies because the corporation tax relief on the salary generally outweighs the NIC cost. We model this precisely for your profit level rather than applying a one-size-fits-all figure.
All prices shown are exclusive of VAT. The practice is not currently VAT registered; once it is (from launch), 20% VAT will be added to your monthly invoice. If your company is VAT registered on the standard scheme, you can reclaim this as input VAT. On the Flat Rate Scheme, input VAT generally can't be reclaimed, so the VAT is a real cost — one of the factors we weigh when advising which scheme suits you.
Yes. Many contractors start on Essentials and move to Standard once they register for VAT or set up payroll. Equally, if your circumstances become more complex — higher income, a spouse shareholder, pension planning — moving to Premium gives you the proactive planning support that becomes valuable at that stage. Switching takes effect from your next billing month.
We'll always tell you upfront if something falls outside your package scope, and quote separately before doing any work — no surprise invoices. Common examples include catch-up bookkeeping for historical periods, company restructuring, or complex one-off transactions like selling the company.
Monthly direct debit via GoCardless is our standard billing method, keeping things predictable for your cash flow. If you'd prefer to pay annually, get in touch and we'll agree terms.
No long lock-in contracts. Our engagement letter sets out a notice period for ending the arrangement (generally 30 days, typical for the profession), but there's no fixed-term commitment. We'd rather earn your business every month than rely on a contract to keep you.
